It was originally called National Running Day in the U.S. and began in 2009, with the first official Global Running Day on June 1, 2016, when more than 2.5 million people from 177 countries ran more than 9.2 million miles.

Paws, smiles, and second chances: We had a wonderful time at Amarillo ASPCA’s Muttfest. We loved seeing so many adorable pups proudly sporting their Donate Life bandanas! From wagging tails to wet noses, these furry friends helped spread an important message of hope, healing, and the lifesaving impact of organ, eye, and tissue donation. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared their stories, and helped us celebrate compassion—both for pets and for people. 🐶💙💚

As Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month comes to an end, we want to continue highlighting an important message from State Rep. Gene Wu (HD 137) about the critical need for organ, eye, and tissue donation in Texas.

During AAPI Heritage Month and every month, State Rep. Gene Wu (HD 137) urges Texans to engage in conversations with their families regarding their choice to donate, officially record their decision in the Texas Donor Registry, and promote awareness regarding the lifesaving and healing effects of organ, eye, and tissue donation.

“With more than 11,000 individuals in Texas awaiting transplants, it’s likely that those within our social circles are affected by the scarcity of organ donors,” said Rep. Wu. “I implore members of our community, in my district and all across Texas, to consider becoming organ, eye, and tissue donors.”
