After 25 yrs. of jotting down ideas and writing several introductions, I have finally followed through and finished my first book.

Book 2 Update - Possible title for the second book "The Source of Change" Still a work in progress, but I like the dual meaning in this title given the story progression of book 2.

I have also made good progress on my first pass edit. I'm in Ch. 15 of 26, and I'm only 30'ish pages shy of the length of the first book.
For some reason I keep adding content :) There are quite a few more storylines to contend with, so, as Holly has instructed, I'm just "letting it flow" for now.

At this rate I am probably going to surpass what I thought was a big boy effort in the first book. Ha.
Happy reading!

My two editors 🐈🐈‍⬛ lost patience with me so I bribed them with a stroll around the block 😹
On the plus side I was able to finish editing Ch. 10 👍

First draft of Book 2 is now complete! I'm on to my first re-write passthrough, in Chapter 2 so far.
Why do I keep calling it Book 2? I still haven't found a title yet. A work in progress on that front.

Nearing the end of the last chapter of book 2’s first draft. With a little help of course.

The wonderful Ana Clements from Clubhouse recently invited Judith and I on her Narrators Assemble podcast show to discuss our project and the process for the audio version of A New Age of Man.
I believe you might need to create an account to listen but if you are interested, please feel free to give it a go. If for no other reason than to hear me stumble through an interview. 😎

Realms Book 2 Update.
I've managed to fix all of the continuity gaps and added content from my earlier decision to quit trying to 'fit' book 2 into the trilogy format. With the erasure of some content and addition of the new, I have crested the 120k word count bringing me to approximately 71% of the length of book 1 in this first draft. I don't suspect that book 2 will be quite as long as book 1, given the new conclusion that I have planned, but I think it will still be a solid continuation nonetheless.
I'm quite happy with how things are coming together.

Thank all of you again who have decided to follow me on this journey and encouraged me along the way.

I may have acquired two new editors for book 2. Might need to work on that attention span though.

Book 2 and Its Implications.

So, I have been struggling with book 2, and how all of the new storylines, their complexity, and subsequent length, has added to book 2. It started to become very evident that my original ending for book 2 was getting further and further away.

Complexity, depth of said complexity and so many more storylines = Doug had to make a decision, and in order to make that decision I needed to get my thoughts in order. So, over the last month+ I have been outlining in much more detail than I had previously, on where I want book 2 to go, how that impacts book 3 and...wait for it...a potential book 4?

Ha, I don't know if it will come to that, but I had an artificial "Trilogy" idea in my head that was placing boundaries on me that I was not comfortable with, and if I'm honest, screwing around with my writing. In order to 'fit' my book 2 ending, I found myself skipping some natural storytelling and just giving infodumps to move things along. I was not happy, so...I said screw it.

I have spent a lot more time recently putting an outline and overall story arc together, and I think I'm in a much better place now. I think the story and overall world building will be better for it and will result in a place I can return to in future novels outside this series.

It feels good. I'm looking forward to actually just sitting down and doing some writing. Get back to the fun stuff.

Have a Wonderful Holiday Season Everyone. See you on the other side and Looking forward to Book 2 in 2025.

P.S. Yes, I keep calling it Book 2 because I have yet to find a title that I like yet. I'm working on it, let you know when I do.
