Channel counts have been going up and up. There are some typical limits, often around 64 channels, and then add audience mics and the occasional submix. Dante channel counts come in bit sized jumps. So now we offer channel counts from one to 128 and the capacity to upgrade to 256. The Thunderbolt PCIe chassis has a Focusrite RedNet PCIeNX card and 8TB of Gen4 NVME storage. The chassis is processor agnostic, illustrated above with a PC and just as happy with a Mac. There is also an additional NIC for non-Dante needs.

In June of 2018, Julye Newlin Productions hired Citizen Doug to provide location sound mixing for two days. We met Rebecca Carpenter, storied director of “Requiem For a Running Back” at her college friend’s house in the third ward. Constance Adams had asked Rebecca to film her final statements on an adventurous life. Constance was an architect for NASA and was responsible for significant orbital human spaces for the International Space Station and many other projects. Four days after the interviews, Constance died of cancer.

✨ SOUND ✨ In THE SPACE ARCHITECT, the sound guides the story in sensory waves, alternating the smallest, almost imperceptible accents with big rollercoaster-sized hills, valleys, turns, and spirals. Sound mixer Doug Robertson, Composer Brian Kim, Sound Designer David Bach, Sound Editor & Designer Sean McCann, and Music Supervisors Season Kent & Leah Harrison taught me what painting with sound can do to create dimensionality in a 2D character. Their mind-blowing expertise, patience (with this new-to-sound director), and commitment to bringing the film’s subject alive made for such a great filmmaking experience. The final product, THE SPACE ARCHITECT about iconic space architect Constance Adams and her extraordinary world view, makes me so very proud. THE SPACE ARCHITECT screens this Sunday 10/26 at the Culver Theater at 2:45 at the Architecture & Design Film Festival.
