Found this photo of a project that is more than ten years old. The Homeowner did a lot of cooking, so it was designed to meet her needs - sadly I don't have a photo of the baking center, with a custom stained glass "divider" to the right.
Mostly it was important because the wall to the right was completely opened up....and it supported the second floor! Footings were added under the existing foundation at point loads, then brought in a long, steel beam.
So, Yes, you can take out that wall between your kitchen and your living room, but it takes time, money and a lot of mess to achieve. Depending on the structure of the existing configuration, it can also require design coordination with a structural engineer.
But it is doable!

We had to rebuild much of this cabinet post February Freeze water damage.
It was painted black, and even though black is trending, it always made this cabinet feel like it overwhelmed the Powder Room.
Just a close-up for now because I get to share my favorite color, SW 6004 Mink. And added black handles. Ah, now I can breathe!

After all the trials and tribulations of the past few weeks, this was at least a construction challenge I could get a laugh out of seeing! Also a good hint to keep in mind for the future.....unless, of course, the project calls for a textured concrete! 😉

We recently installed this "chandi" at a client's house.
Fortunately, my electrician has the patience of Job...."okay, uuuup just a few inches, NOPE! down a little bit.....OOPS! too far......there! that's perfect.......
He put up with that six more times, and could still smile at the end.
He was also amazing at installing new light fixtures where none existed. Which kept the sheetrock and painting repairs to a minimum.

This pattern, Brocade, also comes in shades of grey and versions in shades of pale blue or pale green and white. There's a lot to love!
