Last week marked a milestone! I had the privilege of hosting the great Jeremy Garcia, professor of classical and flamenco guitar at the University of Houston , and my former and first guitar professor Dr. Isaac Bustos , who currently teaches at University of Texas - San Antonio, at Katy Westpark High School. They both played an amazing set and worked with a few of my students. They definitely captivated many young guitarists with their playing and teaching. Thank you both, I am grateful!

This Friday, October 28th at 7:30 pm, I will present a talk on my recent composition "Western Vista" for solo guitar at the University of Texas at Dallas Johnson Performance Hall. I composed "Western Vista" for the Grammy winner David Russell, commissioned and inspired by an idea from Russell Cleveland, a long-time supporter of the classical guitar in Dallas. My presentation will be followed by a short masterclass on the work, in which I will work on this composition with two past laureates of the UTD Guitar Competition. It should be fun--come check it out!
Them faces though… this is the first movement of Sonatina Meridional by Ponce!
