Cancer Warrior Wednesday: Meet Taylor 💗

"As a 12-year-old, it was very scary hearing that I had cancer." Taylor thought she was dealing with a stubborn sinus infection. Instead, she was diagnosed with Stage 3B Hodgkin's lymphoma after doctors discovered a tumor between her heart and lung.

Over the next several months, Taylor endured chemotherapy, radiation, and countless challenges with her family by her side. Their support helped carry her through one of the most difficult chapters of her life.

Today, over seven years after treatment, Taylor is a student at Louisiana Tech University studying biology with minors in business administration and chemistry. Inspired by her own experience, she hopes to pursue a career in cancer research and help improve treatments for future generations.

A little throwback pic to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to mister Larry LaPoint! 🥳

For nearly 20 years, Larry has been one of the backbones of Sky High. As one half of our logistics team, he does more behind the scenes than most people will ever know. From hauling our trailer and helping bring our Carnival to life, to office installations and solving countless challenges along the way, Larry is always the first to step up and lend a hand.

Larry is so much more than a volunteer. He is our family.

Anyone who has ever met Larry knows he has one of the most selfless hearts around. He gives without hesitation, serves without seeking recognition, and shows up whenever and wherever he's needed. His impact on this organization goes far beyond what can be measured.

Thank you will never be enough for everything you've done for Sky High and the families we serve. We are better because of you.

Warrior Wednesday: Hayden 💙

After being diagnosed with a rare brain tumor at just 4 years old, Hayden underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Because of years of research and advancements in treatment, Hayden was given the opportunity to thrive.

Today, Hayden is in high school, cancer free for over 10 YEARS, and passionate about his faith, family, tennis, golf, and music. He often uses his cancer journey as part of his testimony, sharing hope with others and reminding us all of God's faithfulness.

Hayden's story is proof that research changes lives and that hope can shine through even the hardest circumstances. 🎗️

Together, we are strengthening Childhood Cancer care across sub-Saharan Africa, where survival rates remain below 10%, and helping expand access to the care every child deserves.

Warrior Wednesday: Marlee 💗🎗️

For years, Marlee has shown us what it means to keep fighting.

After being diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2021, Marlee has endured countless treatments, long hospital stays, and more challenges than any child should ever face, including moving away from her home and family in Midland to be closer to treatment. Earlier this year, she received the heartbreaking news that her cancer had relapsed once again.

We were heartbroken to hear the news and knew we wanted to do something special for Marlee. So in true Sky High fashion we surprised her - waking her up to puppy kisses and her new best friend, Daisy. Since that moment, the two have been inseparable and have been walking through this journey side by side. 🐾

If you've ever met had the pleasure of meeting Marlee, you know her light shines far beyond her diagnosis. She continues to inspire everyone around her with the way she faces each day, and we're honored to walk alongside her journey.

Yesterday, our team and incredible volunteers brought the magic to our annual Carnival for the Cancer Warriors at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We had it all - games, food, crafts, TONS of giveaways but, most importantly we were able to create a day away from the realities of Childhood Cancer. 🎗️

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so memorable for these amazing children and their families. Together, we're creating moments of normalcy when they matter most.
