After nearly 30 years as a financial advisorโand as the father of three sons in their twentiesโI've spent a lot of time thinking about the financial advice I'd give to folks just starting out.
In my latest article, What Financial Advice Would a Financial Advisor Give a 25-Year-Old?, I share the habits, lessons, and principles I believe matter most when you're building your financial foundation.

One of the things that makes our team work well is that everyone knows their role.
We collaborate constantly, but we're not all doing the same job. Each person brings a different skill set, perspective, and area of responsibility to the client experience. While our clients may interact with some team members more than others, every role plays an important part in helping serve clients well.
To give you a look behind the scenes at how our team is structured and what each person contributes, we recently asked each member of our team to describe their role in one sentence.
Here's what Antonino Green, Client Service Associate, had to say:
"As Client Service Associate, I help clients feel taken care of from their very first interaction with our team, whether they're calling with a question, visiting our office, or reaching out for support."
For many clients, Antonino is one of the first voices they'll hear on the phone and one of the first faces they'll see when they walk through our doors. He helps keep things running smoothly behind the scenes, coordinates client needs, and ensures every interaction reflects the level of service and hospitality we strive to provide.

At Winstone Wealth Partners, we know that some of life's most important roles don't come with a job title.
Fatherhood is one of them.
We're fortunate to work with many fathers who spend years providing guidance, support, encouragement, and leadership for their families while balancing careers, responsibilities, and countless demands along the way.
That certainly describes our founder and CEO, Jeff Green.
As the father of three sons, Jeff has always placed a high value on family. Whether he's sharing stories about his boys, planning time together, or sneaking away for a fishing trip, it's clear where his priorities lie.
Jeff, we're grateful for the leadership you provide our team and the example you set as a father.
Happy Father's Day to Jeff and to all the dads, grandfathers, and father figures in our Winstone community.

As Father's Day approaches, I've been reflecting on how quickly the years go by.
It feels like yesterday my three boys were running around the house, keeping me busy and constantly reminding me why coffee was necessary.
Today, they're all adults.
And while I miss some of those younger years, I've come to appreciate this stage of life too.
One of the greatest joys of being a father is getting to watch your children become their own people. Seeing the values you've tried to teach take root. Watching them make good decisions, overcome challenges, and build lives of their own.
Fatherhood doesn't get easier as your kids get olderโฆ it just changes.
The worries change. The conversations change. The role changes.
But the love and pride never do.
To all the dads out there, enjoy the time. It goes faster than you think.

One of the most common things I've heard from successful retirees over the years is this: "I wish I had started sooner."
That's one of the reasons I wrote my most recent article, What Financial Advice Would a Financial Advisor Give a 25-Year-Old?, to share some of the financial habits and decisions that can make a meaningful difference over time.

One of the most common questions I hear is, "Do I really need a written financial plan?"
My answer is almost always yes.
In my latest article, I explain why a written plan can provide clarity, confidence, and a framework for making more strategic financial decisions over time.

One year ago this month, we officially became Winstone Wealth Partners.
At the time, the change felt significant. After all, Green Financial Group had been our name for nearly 17 years.
But as we look back, what stands out most is not what changedโฆ it's what didn't.
We are the same team. We have the same values. We still put clients above all else. We still hold the same beliefs that financial planning is ultimately about helping people live the lives they want to live.
The decision to move beyond the Green Financial Group name wasn't about leaving our history behind. It was about creating a name that reflected who we had become.
What started in 2008 as a solo advisory practice with my name on the door had grown into something much larger: a collaborative team of advisors and professionals working together to serve clients and their families.
Over the past year, we've continued investing in our people, our technology, our capabilities, and the client experience. We've welcomed new opportunities, embraced change, and remained focused on building a firm designed to serve clients not just today, but for decades to come.
We're incredibly grateful to every client, employee, friend, and partner who has been part of this journey.
Thank you for trusting us through every chapter, from Green Financial Group to Winstone Wealth Partners and beyond.
Here's to the first (official) year of Winstone, and to many more ahead.

What happens when a parentโs health suddenly changesโฆ and no one knows where anything is? How do you support aging parents while still honoring their independence, wishes, and dignity?
In this episode of The Green Zone Podcast, co-hosts Jeff Green and Lauren Smith discuss one of the most emotional (and most avoided) areas of financial planning: preparing for aging parents, caregiving responsibilities, and difficult future decisions before a crisis happens.
Together they discuss:
โก๏ธ Why โthe best time is right nowโ when it comes to family financial conversations
โก๏ธ Important estate planning documents families often overlook
โก๏ธ How beneficiary designations can override a will
โก๏ธ How to organize financial information before an emergency
โก๏ธ Common financial risks aging parents face, including scams and missed bills
โก๏ธ Questions families should ask about long-term care, independence, and quality of life
โก๏ธ The emotional and logistical realities of becoming a caregiver
โก๏ธ Practical ways adult children can support aging parents without โtaking overโ
โก๏ธ Why long-term care insurance may play an important role in a familyโs plan
Whether youโre helping aging parents today or simply thinking ahead for your own future, this episode offers practical guidance and compassionate perspective on conversations many families know they need to have but often delay for too long.

A lot of what happens for our clients takes place behind the scenes.
Conversations are documented. Action items are tracked. Account updates are processed. Details are coordinated across multiple team members.
While clients may not see all of that work happening, it's an important part of delivering the level of service and follow-through they expect from our team.
That's why we thought it might be helpful to share a bit more about what each person at Winstone does and how their role contributes to the overall client experience.
So we asked our team one simple question: โ๐๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฅ๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐?โ
Here's what Clark Henry, Relationship Manager, had to say:
"As a Relationship Manager, my job is to ensure every detail is carried out thoughtfully and accurately so nothing gets lost between the conversation, the strategy, and the ex*****on."
Clark works closely alongside our other advisors to document client interactions, coordinate account updates, maintain accurate records, and help ensure the details behind every recommendation are carried out efficiently. His role helps connect the planning and advice clients receive with the implementation happening behind the scenes, creating a seamless experience for the families we serve.

People often assume retirement is about reaching a certain dollar amount. In my experience, it's really about understanding your goals, your spending needs, and whether your resources can support the lifestyle you envision.
