HIVE presents a model for addressing the future needs of community world wide.

HIVE pilot program is a self directed residency providing a quite retreat space within a modified shipping container for creative thinkers who work between science and art disciplines to produce original cultural content at the crossings of social function and cultural meaning.

HIVE is an artists experimental studio compound co-op/micro village made from shipping containers and recycled building materials situated five miles from downtown Houston on a private acre of land with a pond designated as a national habitat for wildlife.

HIVE program encourages environmental stewardship and incorporating multi genre forms of art , for example combinations of critical theory, poetry, philosophy visual art, bio art ,architecture, movement art, food...which are designed, integrated and initiated by the studio holder with support or collaboration from the Houston community at the1 invitation and discretion of the individual artist.

The HIVE studio holders site has basic facilities, a small climate controlled space available 24-7, bath room ,community kitchen and grounds. There's room for a community of six full time artists on site.

Turtles, amphibians, migratory birds and mammals all call the HIVE habitat home.
The terrain naturally floods after it rains, thus suitable for surefooted individuals to walk about
who are not physically challenged.
There are a few friendly pet dogs and multiple cats on site. There is tram access six blocks away. There is farmers market within walking distance and bike lane along Cavalcade/20th street.
There is HIVE programing within the Egg Chapel (Pysanka workshops ) and Kyudo/archery available...
