Building a safer jobsite starts long before the first boots hit the ground. 🦺

Our own Faith Boren recently led an OSHA 30 training in Spanish for clients in Dallas, giving construction professionals the tools and knowledge to help create safer jobsites and stronger safety cultures.

It was also great to see more women in the classroom, a reminder that the construction industry continues to grow stronger with talented professionals from all backgrounds stepping up and making their mark. ✨

At Adams Insurance Service, we're proud to offer OSHA and other safety training opportunities that help our clients protect their crews, strengthen their businesses, and keep safety at the forefront of every jobsite.

"I'm not a big business, so nuclear verdicts don't apply to me." It's a common misconception, but unfortunately, it's one that can be costly. ⚠️

The reality is that you don't have to be a large corporation to feel the impact of today's legal environment. As nuclear jury verdicts continue to climb across Texas, insurance carriers are tightening up umbrella and excess liability coverage, making it more expensive and harder for businesses of all sizes to secure the protection they need.

If your business relies on commercial vehicles, operates jobsites, or carries liability exposures, these verdicts can affect your insurance options, regardless of the size of your company.

The takeaway? Don't assume you're too small to be impacted. Understanding your risks today can help you make smarter coverage decisions tomorrow.

The team at Adams Insurance Service is here to help you navigate today's changing insurance landscape and make sure your business is protected. 🀝

Nothing beats getting out, shaking a few hands, and catching up with good folks in the industry 🀝!

Our Adams Insurance Service team had a great time at the recent American Subcontractors Association - Houston Chapter (ASA-HC) Schmooze & Mingle events with ASA GC Partners White Construction in May and JE Dunn Construction in June 🌟. Both evenings were wonderful opportunities to meet new faces, reconnect with fellow ASA Houston members, and enjoy great conversations in a relaxed, laid-back setting.

We're always glad for the chance to spend time with familiar faces, swap a few stories, and strengthen the connections that keep our industry moving forward πŸ—οΈ. A big thank you to ASA Houston for hosting these great events. We'll see y'all down the trail again soon!

Every now and then, it's nice to trade the everyday hustle for an afternoon of paint, laughter, and great company. 🎨

Our Giddy Up Gals recently gathered at the Adams office for a Painting with a Twist event, and it was the perfect mix of creativity, laughter, and great company. It gave us a chance to slow down, catch up with some wonderful clients, and enjoy an evening filled with colorful canvases, plenty of smiles, and maybe even a few hidden artistic talents. 😊

We're grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a fun evening. We love finding opportunities to build relationships, make memories, and show our appreciation for the amazing clients we're fortunate to work with.

Here's to good company, a little Texas-sized creativity, and many more Giddy Up Gals gatherings down the trail! 🀠

Every now and then, you have the privilege of meeting someone who is simply larger than life. Charlie Craig was one of those people. 🀍

For more than 40 years, Adams Insurance Service has had the honor of serving Craig & Heidt, Inc. , and during that time, Charlie became much more than a client. He became a friend.

Norman Adams first met Charlie in the mid-1980s, and it didn't take long for the two to find common ground through their shared appreciation for machinery, earthmoving equipment, and building things that stand the test of time. Charlie did exactly that, helping grow Craig & Heidt into a highly respected, multi-generational, family-owned business that continues to thrive today.

Charlie loved people, loved learning, and never seemed to meet a stranger. Whether he was talking equipment, sharing stories, or brightening a child's day, Charlie had a way of making everyone feel welcome. His easy smile, genuine handshake, and generous spirit will be deeply missed.

It has been a privilege to work alongside the Craig family through the years, from Charlie and Joanne to Kay and Sam, and now to Paul and Joe as they carry the family legacy forward. While Charlie will be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing he has been reunited with his beloved wife, Joanne. πŸ™

Rest easy, Charlie, and God bless. Thank you for your friendship, your example, and the remarkable legacy you leave behind. ✨

Those wishing to honor Charlie's memory are encouraged to make a donation to Spring Branch Presbyterian Church (www.springbranchpres.org) or Special Pals Animal Shelter (www.specialpals.org).

Out on a Texas jobsite, everyone knows to keep an eye on storm clouds. But the truth is, the sun can be just as dangerous. Heat illness is one of the leading weather-related hazards on construction sites, and it's often underestimated. 🌑️

When the temperatures start climbing, a little preparation can make all the difference. Here are a few ways to help keep your crew safe:

- Keep plenty of cool drinking water on hand

- Make sure workers have access to shade and scheduled rest breaks

- Shift heavier work to the cooler parts of the day whenever possible

- Use fans or other cooling equipment to help reduce heat exposure

- Train your crew to recognize the signs of heat illness and look out for one another. If someone shows signs of heat stress, get them out of the heat, call for help if needed, and don't leave them alone. πŸ› οΈ

One thing that's easy to overlook? New workers are often the most vulnerable because their bodies haven't had time to adjust to working in the heat. Keeping a close eye on them can help prevent a serious situation.

The Texas heat doesn't cut anybody any slack. A little preparation today can help keep your crew safe and your jobs moving tomorrow. Blaze the trail and read our latest blog post: https://www.adamsinsurance.com/post/blazing-trails-not-workers 🀠

Meet Sally Durdin, Commercial Account Manager at Adams Insurance Service! πŸ‘‹

A proud South Texas native, Sally was born and raised in McAllen and got her start in the insurance business as a claims adjuster around 2000. After moving to Houston in 2001, she's worn quite a few hats in the industry before making her way to Adams Insurance Service, bringing years of experience and know-how to our commercial team.

When she's not helping clients with their insurance needs, you'll likely find Sally spending time with family down south enjoying good food and a little shopping, soaking up the sun at the beach, camping with friends who are more like family, or enjoying the company of her four-legged sidekicks, Roscoe Jenkins and Suki Grace. 🐾

Sally brings plenty of experience, a strong work ethic, and a little South Texas spirit to the Adams team, and we're mighty glad to have her riding alongside us. 🀠

As we continue to celebrate 250 years of American independence, we'd like to shine a spotlight on one of the pieces we're especially proud to display around the Adams Insurance Service office – our replica Betsy Ross Flag. A true icon of the American Revolution, and a symbol of the spirit that helped build this country. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Often considered our nation's first flag, the Betsy Ross Flag has become one of the most recognizable symbols in American history. While historians still debate exactly how much Betsy Ross contributed to its creation, there's little doubt that her name will forever be tied to this legendary flag and its now-famous five-point stars.

This flag serves as a reminder of the grit, determination, and pioneering spirit that helped forge our nation. ✨

History runs deep in Texas, and we're proud to share these stories and symbols with the clients, friends, and neighbors who visit our office. If you're ever nearby, come take a look and learn a little more about the history behind this iconic flag. 🀝

"That's it! Sell the fleet!" It's a conversation we're hearing more and more as business owners face rising commercial auto insurance costs 🚚.

But before you send all the company trucks riding off into the sunset, remember this: switching employees to personal vehicles doesn't mean your auto liability exposure disappears. If employees are driving on company business, your business may still be on the hook.

If your team uses personal vehicles for work, here are a few best practices to help keep your non-owned auto exposure from getting too far off the trail:

βœ”οΈ Prohibit distracted driving and driving under the influence
βœ”οΈ Review Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) for all drivers annually
βœ”οΈ Consider random drug and alcohol testing
βœ”οΈ Require employees to carry adequate personal auto limits (at least $100,000 is a good starting point)
βœ”οΈ Establish vehicle safety and maintenance standards

The bottom line? Trading company vehicles for allowances may reduce some costs, but it doesn't eliminate risk. Make sure your policies and procedures are keeping pace ⚠️.

Need help navigating the road ahead? The team at Adams Insurance Service is here to help.
