Demolition planned for abandoned southwest Houston bank building tied to homicide The site has sat vacant for years and, according to residents, has become a hotspot for illegal activity and unauthorized entry.

I spoke with Councilmember Tiffany D. Thomas about an abandoned bank building that’s become an eyesore.

KHOU’s Troy Kless joined me on Hillcroft to discuss the ongoing issues at the former Wells Fargo building.

Over the past 18 months, this location has been cited for multiple violations. It is a known encampment, a site for illegal dumping, and most recently, the location of a homicide in January.

While signage indicates a gas station is “coming soon,” the property owner has not submitted any permits—only an application for demolition.

We cannot afford to wait.
