Geophysical Insights
AI for Faster Reservoir Characterization
06/08/2026
Congreso Mexicano del Petrรณleo (CMP) 2026 is in the books! Thank you to our associate, Oil & Gas Optimization (OGO), for hosting us and helping make it a great event.
Thank you as well to everyone who stopped by the OGO stand to connect with our Senior Geophysical Advisor, Alvaro Chaveste, and to those who attended his talks. Alvaro shared a new methodology that uses machine learning (ML) to assign probabilities to lithofacies using seismic and well data. This technique is proving to be faster and more economical than traditional seismic inversion. As you can see, his talk was a big hit! ๐
If youโd like to learn more about Paradise, the AI Workbench for reservoir characterization, visit https://www.geoinsights.com.
โถ๏ธ WATCH NOW: The recording of our recent AAPG -hosted webinar, Machine Learning for Lithofacies Prediction and Fault Detection, is now available to watch.
If you missed the webinar, or if youโd like to revisit it, you can now watch the full recording here:

Key takeaways from the session:
โข Predict lithofacies dramatically faster than traditional methods by integrating Machine Learning (ML) results with well logs based on petrophysics
โข Detect thin beds down to a single seismic sample through unsupervised ML classification
โข Apply Information Theory on seismic and wells to identify the optimum seismic attributes for an area
โข Generate fault volumes in 2D or 3D within a few hours using synthetic fault models

Today is the last day of the AAPG AI and Machine Learning in Subsurface Energy workshop!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Geophysical Insights booth, attended Deborah Sacreyโs presentation, and took the time to talk with our team about AI and machine learning applications for seismic interpretation.
We appreciate AAPG for hosting the workshop and for encouraging so many thoughtful conversations. It was a great opportunity to connect with geoscientists, share practical examples from Paradise, and share how machine learning workflows are being applied to real subsurface challenges.
If we missed you during the event, or if youโd like to continue the conversation, please reach out to our team at https://www.geoinsights.com/contact-us/. Weโd be happy to connect.

How does a seasoned geoscientist approach AI and machine learning (ML) as tools to enhance seismic interpretation?
Find out tomorrow at the AAPG AI and Machine Learning in Subsurface Energy workshop in Houston, Texas, where Deborah Sacrey, former AAPG President, will present
Sharing her extensive experience as an interpreter, Ms. Sacrey will connect the history of disruptive technologies in geoscience with the newest machine learning workflows. She will also show how fault probability volumes and neural classification of seismic attributes are used together to better analyze complex reservoir intervals.
Our team will be available during the event at the Geophysical Insights booth to answer questions, talk through the technology, and share more examples of AI/ML applications for seismic interpretation.
See you tomorrow!
