Where Are They Now? Rescue Edition:

Mavis came to BARC as a sweet pup who had been abandoned, suffering from severe demodex mange covering her face and body. In pain and in need of serious medical care, her future was uncertain.

But that is not where her story ends.

In September 2025, Mavis was rescued by Forgotten Coast Animal Rescue, one of more than 150 rescue partners that work alongside BARC to give animals like Mavis a second chance. Through their dedicated foster-based care, Mavis received the time, treatment, and love she needed to heal. Today, Mavis is completely healed and living her best life with an amazing family in Massachusetts. 💜

Mavis’s transformation is only possible because of strong rescue partnerships and the generosity of donors who make lifesaving transfers possible. A heartfelt thank you to Forgotten Coast Animal Rescue and our supporters for giving Mavis the chance she deserved!

Whether he's assisting fellow team members, helping residents, or responding to animals in need, Officer Harding consistently leads with patience, respect, and a commitment to service.

Our Animal Enforcement Officers play an important role in protecting both people and pets throughout Houston, and we’re proud to recognize Officer Harding for the positive impact he makes every day.

The Houston BARC Foundation was honored to receive proceeds from the recent PAWS for the CAUSE Design event at the beautiful Alair Homes Design Space. Houston-area designers gathered to raise funds totaling $14,000 to support homeless animals at BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions. Cocktails, lite bites and a bevy of precious pups rounded out the evening. 💜🐾
