Hands That Feed
Do you have a hand that helps? Visit our website: www.ihaveahandthathelps.org
Want to get involved? Email us at [email protected].
Hands That Help includes the following areas:
Hands That Feed - Bringing food & nutrition to children. Hands That Teach - Providing education to children. Hands That Heal - Providing medical care and health to children. Hands That Build - Building schools, homes, medical clinics and communities for children. Hands That Create - Promoting the natural visual arts talent in children.
Why are we called Hands That Help but our fb page is Hands That Feed? Because years ago we started off as Hands That Feed with a mission focused around supporting causes that provide food & nutrition to children in need. Over the years the mission has expanded to support causes that provide health & medical, education, home, community and of course food & water. So we are now called Hands That Help, but changing the name on fb is one big monster of a task. So the name change is in process .
Just got word of some amazing news!! We've been working on securing a few hearing aids for kids with hearing impairments. I just received a call and instead of a few, we are getting HUNDREDS of hearing aids through the Starkey Foundation. This is incredible. How often do you ask someone for a little, and get a lot? This means hundreds of little kiddos are going to be able to hear. So awesome! Thank you Starkey Foundation!
The date has been set for Little Picasso: Saturday, September 21, 2013. If you have a little budding artist at home, then save the date and look out for more information soon!
AT this event, your child will have the opportunity to attend fun art workshops and pick up some great skills that they can then use to create their own masterpieces. This will be followed by a formal showing of their artwork where patrons will view the art in an art gallery setting and discuss the art with all of our little Picassos. Proceeds from any art sold will benefit Hands That Create and the talented underprivileged children we aim to expose and create opportunity for in the art world, all the while contributing to their education, home, health and nutrition. More soon! It's going to be a fun event for all!
Coming up soon - a new website for Hands That Help! Stay tuned!

Those of you that attended the fundraiser in February 2013 and contributed to Project Schoolhouse, this is the project you directly supported. Our 6th school is nearing completion and here are a few pictures of the process. Every year we start the school in the dry season and finish it in the rainy season. Materials that don't get into the community by early may end up being brought in by horse and have to cross full rivers.
Had a great time yesterday teaching some fun dance moves to the kiddos over at the School in Houston. The Monarch School is an amazing therapeutic day school for children with neurological disorders. It was a fun time, and some of the kids taught me some pretty cool dance moves too! Thanks Shivali Dhruv for the continued opportunity! Can't wait to do more!

Check it out.. construction of the school and school kitchen. Project Schoolhouse/Nicaragua. March 2013.
We have two more talented children in the running for Hands That Create's ten sponsored positions for 2013/2014. Hands That Create aims to promote the visual art talent that many underprivileged children around the world possess, whose talents may have otherwise gone unnoticed, and allow their work to be exhibited alongside artists worldwide in established art galleries. Proceeds from any artwork that sells will go directly to the child who created the art and must be used for the most part for home, health, education, medical, food, and savings. Our visit to Nicaragua with Project Schoolhouse was a huge success. We toured several of the previously built schools and taught art classes to the precious students. The construction of the 6th school and 3rd waterway is underway in Ubu Village, Cuantos Esquina and is going well. Project Schoolhouse is a well-run, ethical and forward-moving program and has accomplished quite a bit since its inception in 2004. It's a great organization to support. If you are interested in making a donation or would like to visit the schools in Nicaragua, please visit www.projectschoolhouse.org or contact us at Hands That Help. Pictures from the Nicaragua visit will be posted soon!
