👶 WHO CAN YOU CLAIM AS A DEPENDENT?

Your child must:
✔ Live with you more than half the year
✔ Be under 19 (or under 24 if a student)
✔ Not provide more than half their own support

Paying child support does NOT automatically give you the right to claim them.

🚗 VEHICLE & AUDITS

If you claim vehicle expenses, you NEED:
• Receipts for , insurance, repairs, etc.
• Proof of payment
• A mileage log

Example:
20,000 km driven
8,000 km business
= 40% business use

If costs were $9,000 → Deduction = $3,600

No log = no deduction if audited 😬

🚨 Y’ALL BETTER STOP PLAYING WITH THE IRS 🚨

Paying child support does NOT give you the right to claim the child.
Not legally. Not emotionally. Not “because you feel like it.”

The rules ⬇️

✔️ One parent claims the child
✔️ That’s usually the custodial parent
✔️ Non-custodial parent needs Form 8332 signed
✔️ No form = no claim

📌 If both parents try to claim the same child, the IRS will catch it — and somebody’s refund is getting delayed or denied.

💬 Handle it before you file, not when the IRS comes knocking.

🚨 STOP SCROLLING — THIS IS YOUR TAX PSA 🚨

You DO NOT have to wait until February to file your taxes.

This myth spreads every year and it’s wrong ⬇️

✅ You can file as soon as the IRS opens
✅ Your return can be accepted + processed
❌ Some refunds are legally held until mid-February

📌 PATH Act (FACTS):
If you claim:
• EITC
• ACTC

👉🏽 The IRS must hold your refund, not your return.

That does NOT mean:
❌ You can’t file
❌ You should wait
❌ Your preparer is lying

It means your money drops later — not your paperwork.

No EITC or ACTC?
🚫 PATH Act does not apply to you.

File early. File right. Don’t let misinformation cost you your money 💰

If you earned income in 2025 — even from a side hustle, gig work, online platforms, or cash-based work — it still needs to be reported.

The good news? You don’t need a business license, an LLC, or a “real job” to file.
You just need proof of income — and I can help you handle the rest.

No judgment.
No shame.
No lectures.

Just accurate filing, legal compliance, and making sure you don’t miss credits or refunds you qualify for.
