Association for Materials Protection and Performance
Protecting what matters.
We are the global authority in corrosion and coatings, advancing materials performance to safeguard infrastructure, industries, and the world we share.
Many communities still rely on water infrastructure that has served generations. Protective coatings, corrosion control technologies, inspections, and rehabilitation strategies all play an essential role in helping these systems continue delivering safe, reliable water.
Some of our most important infrastructure is also some of our oldest. π°

Standards donβt just guide our industry - they protect it.
Join AMPPβs ANSI-accredited process and help build the frameworks that keep infrastructure safe, reliable, and built to last.
Through Standards Committees, you can:
- Bring your expertise to the table
- Influence how work gets done across the industry
- Help prevent failures before they happen
We're currently looking for volunteers from industries such as maritime and shipbuilding, civil and critical infrastructure, defense, and water and wastewater to help shape the future of industry standards.

Protective coatings serve as a barrier between materials and their environment. Even a small holiday, scratch, chip, or coating defect can become an entry point for moisture and contaminants.
β οΈ Over time, corrosion may spread beneath the coating, affecting areas much larger than the original defect.
Proper surface preparation, application, inspection, and maintenance all play an important role in maximizing coating performance and asset life.
Sometimes the smallest vulnerabilities create the biggest risks.
