New York anglers are enjoying an incredible summer of fishing for bluefish, large sharks and even cobia - all of which are being found feeding on menhaden within the 3-mile mark.

New York anglers should be very grateful that in February 2019, the New York legislature passed a measure to ban purse seines in state waters for menhaden.

While menhaden fishing has been poor in the waters off of Chesapeake Bay, we can rest easy knowing that these Menhaden are safe within state waters.
