Let me tell you what establishment is not.
It is not waking up and checking your credit score every morning hoping it moved. It is not fighting your way through another month, robbing Peter to pay Paul, and calling it progress. Paying off a collection does NOT remove it from your report.
Myth: Paying off a collection removes it from your credit report.
Fact: Paying it updates the status to 'paid collection,’ but it stays on your report for up to 7 years from the original delinquency date.
Does that mean you should not pay it? Not necessarily. But strategy matters. Before you make any payments on collections, talk to someone who knows what they are doing. One wrong move can reset the clock.
