24Moves Consulting and Joe Lippeatt have released Attachment Scout, a free, open-source WordPress plugin for reducing server space taken up by unused Media Library files.

Features include:

• Scanning JPEG and PNG Media Library attachments
• Checking featured image usage
• Searching the database for possible attachment references
• Displaying file details, size, and upload date
• Deleting original files and generated image sizes
• WordPress capability and security checks

Today marks 17 years of HoustonPhotowalks.

Back in 2009, a small group of photographers met up in downtown Houston to walk, shoot, learn, and see what might happen (even though it started poring down rain). We did not know it at the time, but that first gathering would grow into one of Houston’s longest-running photography communities on Meetup.

Since then, we have hosted more than 800 events, visited museums, historic places, hidden corners of Houston, weird roadside stops, ships, abandoned spaces, restaurants, parks, and places many of us never would have discovered on our own. And somehow survived 17 years of Joe sending out event descriptions before proofreeding them.

But the best part has never really been the photos. It has been the people.

Thank you to everyone who has walked with us, taught a class, led an event, shared a meal, helped a beginner, supported the group, or just showed up with a camera and a little curiosity.

Seventeen years later, we are still here, still exploring, still learning, and still making friends one photowalk at a time.

24Moves has released SqsA11y, an open-source JavaScript enhancement library for Squarespace websites.

Accessibility can have a huge impact on your SEO, and some areas of Squarespace are difficult to fix for WCAG-conformance.

The project was built from real-world accessibility remediation work and focuses on common Squarespace issues that can be difficult to address directly in the Squarespace editor. That includes focus behavior, form accessibility, link context, image/link patterns, reduced motion, and other WCAG-related improvements.

The project is MIT licensed, and feedback is welcome from Squarespace developers, accessibility professionals, and anyone working on WCAG remediation.
