Harris County nonprofit Justice Forward in March expanded its services to two Galveston County specialty courts: the HOPE—Helping Ourselves with Positive Efforts—Drug Court and the Felony Mental Health Court, both at the Galveston County Jury Assembly Room at 600 59th St., Galveston.

Justice Forward funds housing, specialty counseling, transportation and tuition for incarcerated individuals. Since 2006, 70% of the nonprofit’s clients have not re-entered the criminal justice system.

Students who attend Clear Creek ISD can now expect to have four additional days off from school in order for the district to add more instructional planning days.

The added time off that will go into effect for the 2022-23 school year was unanimously voted on at the May 23 CCISD board of trustees meeting. The new instructional planning days are set to occur Sept. 19, Feb. 6, March 20 and April 17.

Real estate developer Jackson-Shaw announced a 43-acre industrial park, south of the Willow Waterhole Greenway, at the former site of Houston Sportsplex, which closed in late 2021.

Homes in the community will have starting prices in the $400,000s and will range in size from 2,200-4,200 square feet, according to a news release. Avalon at Cypress will feature amenities, such as a recreation center; a pool; a playground; an event lawn; a fire pit; tennis, basketball and pickleball courts; walking trails; and a butterfly garden.
