For years, Fortuitous Fine Jewelry has lived inside this little display case.
It wasn't much bigger than a bookshelf, but it represented something much bigger.
Every custom ring, heirloom redesign, repair, and permanent bracelet started here.
What most people didn't see was everything happening behind the scenes.
The late nights at my bench.
Countless hours practicing and refining my craft.
Boxes arriving with stones and castings ready to be transformed by hand.
Twenty years of learning, problem-solving, and figuring things out one piece at a time.
This display case was never the whole business. It was just the tiny window into it.
Next month, that's going to change.
For the first time, Fortuitous Fine Jewelry will have a space of its own. A place where we can sit down together, design meaningful jewelry, browse pieces in person, and experience the business beyond the display case.
This little cabinet at helped build something I'm incredibly proud of, and I'll always be grateful for where it all began.
I can't wait to welcome you into the next chapter.

When Sarah brought me her great-grandfather’s ring, the gold had worn paper-thin from decades of love and everyday wear. The stone was barely being held in place, and its exposed corners had already been chipped.
Walking away would have been the safer choice.
Instead, we chose to preserve the ring that had already meant so much to her family.
I rebuilt the worn settings with fresh gold, replaced part of the shank to restore its strength, resized it, and gave it the structure it needed to be worn every day again.
This isn’t about making an old ring look brand new. It’s about honoring its history while making sure it can become part of someone else’s. ❤️

Most jewelry repairs don’t start with a polishing cloth.
They start looking… well… kind of ugly.
Once the stone was safely removed, I filed away decades of worn metal and fabricated new gold bars to replace the ones that had worn paper-thin. After soldering, the ring was dark, oxidized, and honestly looked worse than when I started. That’s completely normal.
The magic isn’t in one big transformation. It’s in hundreds of small, careful decisions that slowly bring a piece back to life.
By the end of this stage, the new gold had been shaped, sanded, polished, and the stone was ready to go back where it belonged.

Some projects are worth taking a risk for.
When Sarah brought me her great-grandfather’s ring, it had already lived a full life. Decades of wear had left the gold so thin that the stone was barely being held in place, and the exposed corners had already chipped.
Several experienced bench jewelers warned me this restoration could turn into a nightmare. They weren’t wrong, the risks were real.
But Sarah and I both agreed on one thing: the sentimental value of this ring was worth fighting for.

The newest member of the Foster Fail Club has arrived. 🐾✨
This precious senior girl belongs to one of the directors at Long Way Home Adoptables Rescue, and honestly... did she ever stand a chance?
For the uninitiated, a "foster fail" is what happens when you agree to provide a temporary home and then accidentally fall completely, hopelessly in love. Oops.
Now she has the official tag with her name on it to prove it. 💛
As a fellow lover of tiny senior dogs, I have a soft spot for stories like this. Senior pets have a way of showing up with gray whiskers, soulful eyes, and enough charm to convince everyone they're exactly where they're supposed to be.
Here's to the foster fails, the second chances, and the animals who find their forever families when they least expect it.

For my soul dog, Scarlett.
In 2014, I saw a shelter intake photo and just knew we were soulmates.
A tiny black Chihuahua wearing a rainbow slip lead, with an intake tag reading 666 that looked almost as big as she was. It was love at first sight.
When Scarlett passed away in 2022, I wanted to make a memorial piece to remember her. It took a long time to bring myself to do it and I had no idea what I wanted it to look like so I just sat down with a bunch of materials and let it flow.
I ended up hand fabricating a hollow vessel from Sterlium Plus sheet and wire, engraving the back with her name and the date we said goodbye, and adding an 18K yellow gold bezel over a hidden opening. After placing a small amount of her ashes inside, I set a demantoid garnet to permanently seal it.
It was my first attempt at cremation jewelry, and while I'd probably change a few things if I made it again, that's part of why I love it. It marks a moment in my life, my craft, and my grief.
Scarlett was tiny, tenacious, hilarious, and completely unforgettable.
I'll tell the full story one day, because it deserves more than an Instagram caption. But for now, this little pendant lets me carry a piece of her wherever I go.

Fun Fact: Rory was a Texas shelter dog who traveled all the way to Canada for the perfect home! The success stories are what keep rescuers going day in day out.

It was only supposed to be temporary.
We agreed that we weren't going to adopt another dog after we lost Pepe last year. He was almost 20 and had been dealing with chronic kidney disease and cognitive decline for years. It was a lot. We were down to *just* 2 dogs and a cat so it seemed like the perfect time to get back into fostering.
When we picked "Ghirardelli" up for I should have known that it would end up being forever. My husband was already begging to keep him on our way home. I fought it. This dog was a hot mess - a broken foot on one front leg, a janky elbow on the other, and a back knee that bends the wrong way. Then there was the coughing...pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary edema, and tracheal collapse. I could already tell he was going to be a money pit. Based on his lack of socialization and deformed feet and legs we think he may have spent most of his life in a cage with a backyard breeder before ending up as a stray. He didn't know how to be affectionate but as he got more comfortable, his goofy love bug personality started to blossom. He charmed his way into my heart and I gave in. We're so thankful that Long Way Home Adoptables allowed us to adopt him.
