A season of leading American opera at HGO! Our 2025–26 season championed American composers, storytellers, and visionary creators:

• Our Butler Studio debuted a new staging of Carlisle Floyd’s Of Mice and Men, livestreamed for audiences around the world.

• Houston audiences were the first to see a powerful new production of Kevin Puts and Mark Campbell’s Silent Night, co-produced with The Metropolitan Opera, before it travels to New York next spring.

•The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, the opera that put HGO on the map with a Tony and GRAMMY award winning production 50 years ago, opened the season with a blockbuster run.
