Although this question does not start of with the Interviewer asking “Tell me about a time”... you should respond using the STAR method. Provide an example of a time when you helped stakeholders understand a policy, process, and/ or procedure. What steps did you take to make sure they understood your message? What impact did it have? Always Be specific when answering interview questions.

Should you ask questions surrounding what an employer did for their employees during COVID-19? It depends! The question holds merit especially for those workers who are at the front lines saving lives. In this instance, I would encourage asking the question. It’s all about how you ask the question and the tone in which you ask. With that stated, if you really want to ask questions surrounding the pandemic, please be sure to ask it in a manner that doesn’t come off rude.

Don’t let an interview go by without sending a “thank you” email to each interviewer. It is recommended to send an interview note 24 to 48 hours after your interview.

You spent countless of hours preparing for your interview. You even went as far as hiring a Interview Coach. On the day of your interview, you answered all the questions effortlessly and the interviewer is responding well to you. In the back of your mind, you are certain you’ll get the job offer. A week later, you receive feedback that says you’re not the right fit. You are stunned and disappointed. This leads to self doubt and second guessing yourself in your next interviews.
The best thing to do when you interview is not have any expectations. Even though you may have aced your interview, you may not be what they are looking for. Yes you have the technical skill down packed and may have a nice personality. All this is great, but you may just not fit in with the culture of the organization or department. Should this happen, Keep moving forward! You are not going to secure a job offer after each interview!

Over communicating in your job interview will make you look unprepared. Refrain from over communicating and rambling. The best way to do this is practice and prepare for your interview well ahead of time. Time yourself when you practice and focus on improving. Your responses to interview questions should be relevant to what is being asked of you.

Talking negatively or complaining about your current or former employers shows lack of maturity and it also shows the interviewer you could just as easily say the same thing about their organization if they hire you. Never make yourself the victim or blame your current/ former employers for what transpired during your time of employment. Always keep it light and positive.
