We often think of the story of Exodus as being about freedom from slavery (and it was!), but it's important to note that the Lord really wanted his people to worship him "freely in the wilderness." That is the constant message Moses brings to Pharaoh - let my people go so they can worship me. As Americans who believe in religious freedom, we can instantly see the connection to our own national traditions. St. Anne Church, how's that for a ?
