From August to October of 2001, 55 people set sail as part of a BBC documentary/experiment “The Ship: Retracing Cook’s Endeavour Voyage” in which they lived and worked as 18th century sailors as they travelled from Cairns to Jakarta. Created & captained by Chris Terrill aboard a replica of James Cook’s HM Bark Endeavour, they navigated using old timey methods and had no contact with the outside world, unless the situation was dire.
The captain broke protocol to deliver the news, and for the crew their only frame of reference for the event was his verbal description. They had no access to the visuals and media that 1/3 of the world accessed that day. Grief and an isolated shock was felt but without the continuous stream of news & terror, they eventually got back to their way of living. The option was offered to leave but not a single crew member opted for this.

Episode 4: “Time Travellers” aired September 10, 2002.

Jamie Dimon points to a clear shift in where companies and jobs are moving.

When he joined JPMorgan, the firm had around 35,000 employees in Manhattan. Today, that number has dropped to about 26,000, while headcount in Texas has grown from 11,000 to over 33,000.

Dimon argues the reasons are straightforward. Higher taxes, both individual and corporate, along with estate taxes and a broader anti business sentiment, have made places like New York City less attractive.

He also highlights that this is not a new trend. In past decades, many major corporations moved their headquarters out of New York, with states like Texas becoming key destinations.

The shift reflects a broader pattern.

Companies tend to move where conditions are more favorable for growth, cost efficiency, and long term stability.

How Trump barely avoided WW3

Former CIA officer and whistleblower John Kiriakou says his sources told him that Israel threatened to use nuclear weapons against Iran unless Donald Trump authorized U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

According to Kiriakou, this alleged nuclear threat which he describes as unprecedented was presented to Trump as a justification for launching attacks on Iran to prevent what was framed as a much wider regional conflict.
