Y’all I feel like I’m back in school lol. The special interest is getting real special around here! I’ve been so inspired since the conference last weekend when I met so many really cool people who are experts at what they do. I love learning things from people who have these deep passions and they can’t wait to tell you about it ❤️. My booth neighbor Amber put me on to this fantastic herbal kitchens book that talks about how we can use herbs in our everyday lives to help things like digestion and stress and she is a modern day apothecary and just an all-around cool human. I picked up this book during a conversation with Danielle a super dope somatic therapist whose book is currently changing my life in the way I look at the connection between my brain and my body and what that means. The color pictures help me understand the things she’s describing And the real world examples and stories bring life to this fantastic book. Decolonizing therapy has me all the way in my feelings in the best possible way. I’m only a couple chapters in but there’s a therapist book club where we will be discussing this on the 17th And I’m so excited about it. The last two books, Africa, and Back then and right now are just fantastic Texts to read about places and people of Africa and the way that psychology has left our traditions, culture, and knowledge out of a conversation after co-opting so many of our ideas as their own in demonizing the source. So fascinating. Just wanted to share some amazing texts with y’all that are enriching my life and could enrich yours too. -Meghan
