S&FI ladies on the road, summer 2026 β just returned from a fab trip to Detroit. Seriously we wanted to stay there forever, or at least til their next cold frontβ¦.. We found lots of irises β including a Louisiana Iris, what??? At the lovely Piet Oudolf garden on Belle Isle, we discovered a humble Iris fulva blooming in the rain garden. The horticulture director told us Mr. Oudolf requested the copper iris after seeing one on a hort scouting visit in Missouri. Iris geeks, out!

Happy Iris Day!
National Iris Day is observed annually on May 8 to celebrate the beauty, diversity, and late-spring blooming of the iris flower. The day is named after the Greek goddess of the rainbow, with its signature three upward "standards" and three downward "falls".
Now you know how our business got its name! We've chosen Louisiana Iris 'Cajun Jester' to celebrate today. https://standardsandfallsiris.com/store/CAJUN-JESTER-p125110152

Today we are still celebrating Louisiana Irises blooming here in Texas. These last four blooms are freshly open, having been cut and brought in a few days ago. May the 4th be with you!

Looking for words to describe the ethereal paleness of this group of irises, we are pretty much speechless. Gorgeous, all of them!

If the flowers are still struttin' their stuff, we are going to keep posting them for you to enjoy! This is a pink-ish group, so we stuck a pink bird we saw last week on the end.

As Louisiana Iris bloom season begins to wane, we discovered more images to share from last week. We traveled to Lafayette LA to talk to our fellow Louisiana Iris enthusiasts attending the Society for Louisiana Irises convention. Lots of fun was had by all!
