Burnout isn’t a badge of honor — it’s a sign to pause. Listen early, act gently, and get support if you need it.

💬 Comment below: what’s your first clue you might be burned out?

Why does back-to-school feel like a marathon we didn’t train for? 🫩😵‍💫😑
Back-to-school season isn’t just stressful for students — the whole household feels it. Between early mornings, packed schedules, and constant juggling, it’s easy for stress to creep in (kind of like our little friend here 🐈 ).

Research shows that nearly one-third of parents report increased stress during the back-to-school transition — and kids often mirror that stress at home. Emotional tension can ripple through the family, making self-care and mental health strategies even more important.

You don’t have to wait until you’re burned out to take a break. Protecting your mental health helps you show up more fully for yourself and those you love. A little planning, breathing room, and intentional downtime now can make the entire school year feel lighter.

✨ Save this post as your reminder: taking care of you is taking care of them.

🌱 Small steps matter. 🌱

When life feels overwhelming, it’s easy to think we have to fix everything at once. But growth is rarely about huge leaps—it’s about small, consistent choices that move us forward, even when progress feels slow.

✨ Send the text.
✨ Take the deep breath.
✨ Show up for yourself, even in little ways.

Remember: healing is a journey, not a race.

Has life changed and I haven’t adjusted?
Have I changed, and I need to meet the new version of me?
Am I needing rest, or needing to refocus?

Sometimes, the tools that helped us before were never meant to be permanent — just stepping stones.

And sometimes? The tools still work… we just need to double down and recommit.

💡 Mental wellness isn’t static. What worked once might not work now. And that’s not failure — that’s feedback.

So here’s your permission slip:
✨ To pivot.
✨ To outgrow what once served you.
✨ To change your mind.
✨ To try again — differently.

Whether you’re showing yourself grace and adjusting course…
Or digging deep and recommitting with renewed purpose…

You’re still doing the work. You’re still in it.

And that counts.

Our hearts are with Kerrville, and all those affected by this past weekend’s tragedy.

In the wake of this weekend, many are, or will be feeling the weight of grief, fear, and confusion. Whether you were directly affected or holding space from afar, know this: your feelings are valid, and support is here. 💕

As therapists, we understand that tragedy can shake the nervous system, disrupt sleep, and leave us struggling to find meaning. If you or someone you love is navigating trauma, please remember to take gentle care of your mental health.
✨Here are some resources to support you or someone in need:

❤️Crisis Text Line: Text **HELLO** to 741741 to connect with a trained crisis counselor.
❤️ National Su***de Prevention Lifeline: 988 (available 24/7)
❤️ Hill Country MHDD (Local Kerrville Support) 1-877-466-0660
❤️ NAMI Texas – namitexas.org for support groups and educational resources
❤️ Grounding Tip: Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4, breathe out for 6. Repeat. Your body is listening.

We see you, Kerrville.
We grieve with you.
And we hold hope for healing.

With care,

What an amazing opportunity to connect with the future generations and leaders at the event this past weekend. We hope to help champion their mission of building a pipeline of proactive, community-oriented youth leaders in the Alief area, and as always empower young people everywhere to put self care higher on their priority list. 💫
