Reposted from 🚨LEGISLATION UPDATE: Today marks the Houston Humane Pet Store Ordinance going into effect! 📆🎉

Recently, pet stores targeted this ordinance to reverse the ban on selling puppies in pet stores by either being grandfathered in or being regulated. THLN, , and local animal advocates worked with the City of Houston on this ordinance because Texas law does not adequately protect consumers, puppies, or kittens from pet stores selling commercially bred animals with undisclosed health defects. The new ordinance protects consumers and dogs, and cats. We are stopping the puppy pipeline from other states!

Houston now joins Austin, College Station, Dallas, El Paso, Euless, Fort Worth, Houston, New Braunfels, San Antonio, Sherman, and Waco in cities that have passed a similar ordinance.

Congratulations to Houston on this huge step forward!
