EAA Chapter 12

Our next Chapter Gathering will be Thursday, 13 August 2026 from 6:00 – 8:30PM @ Lone Star Flight Museum (Ellington Field)
Our monthly Gathering (Meeting) will be held @ 6:00 PM at the Lone Star Flight Museum on Ellington Airport at 11551 Aerospace Ave, Houston, TX 77034. We will be reviewing the news from AirVenture 2026, what you observed of significance during the week long airshow, trade show and seminar. Bring your questions and stories from Oshkosh.
As always, we'll have a discussion about the monthly VMC Flight scenario and gather input from aviators in the room on the best course of action to resolve a flight anomaly.
If you have an interest in aviation, we look forward to seeing you, you do not need to be a member to visit our Chapter Gathering!

Congratulations to Avi, one of our two Ray Scholars for 2026. Avi completed his first solo flight on Wednesday, 29 July at Pearland Regional Airport. His parents and a family friend were standing by to congratulate him on this singular accomplishment.

Welcome our EAA Chapter 12, Ray Scholars for 2026: Avi and Keith. Avi hopes to solo soon, while Keith has already flown solo. Both Avi and Keith hope to earn their Private Pilot License and then become professional pilots.

Our monthly Gathering (Meeting) will be held @ 6:00 PM at the Lone Star Flight Museum on Ellington Airport at 11551 Aerospace Ave, Houston, TX 77034. Our Guest Speaker will be Greg White who will provide a discussion on "Things Your Flight Instructor Forgot To Tell You", He is a former Airlines Pilot, Instructor Pilot and frequent presenter for the FAA Safety Team (FAAST). We will introduce our two EAA 12, Ray Scholars for 2026 and their families. (Delayed from June) Let’s help encourage them on their Aviation Journey.

Last Friday, our EAA Chapter visited the Ellington Airport Control Tower to learn more about all the valuable work they do for the local aviators. Since it was a Federal Holiday (and most the government aircraft were parked), there was plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Thanks to David and Reshel who coordinated this visit.

Chapter Gathering – Thursday, 14 May 2026 at 7:00 – 9:30PM @ Pearland Regional Airport

We are going on the road for our next EAA Chapter 12, Gathering on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00- 9:30 PM to Pearland Regional Airport (note that new time and location). Our guest speaker and host will be Dave Grover a repeat experimental aircraft builder, who flies an RV-8, and helps other aircraft owners with their projects. That is when he is not at his day job flying for the airlines. His hangar is home to several experimental aircraft and an impressive array of high tech equipment to build aircraft parts. If you are interested in building, don’t miss this meeting.
His hangar is in the SW corner of Pearland Regional Airport. Enter Gate 1 from County Road 30, make two left turns to arrived behind the large Coastal Skies MX Hangar (Parking is limited near the hangar but available on the right as you enter the airport or down by the FBO). Also he has limited seating so bring a camping chair if you have one.

Our monthly Gathering (Meeting) will be held @ 6:00 PM at the Lone Star Flight Museum on Ellington Airport at 11551 Aerospace Ave, Houston, TX 77034. Our Guest Speaker will be our President, Hal Getzelman, who will discuss flying the McDonald Douglass F-15 Eagle. Hal has 4000 hours in fighters and trainers and will discuss the capabilities and missions of the F-15 Eagle.
