My life has changed since so much since being laid off for the SECOND time in November.

In less than 6 months, I’ve:

✨ secured my highest-paying brand partnership
✨ booked my first sponsored business conference trip
✨ been hired to lead an investing workshop for a women-focused organization (20+ women in the room)
✨ been featured on a podcast sharing my financial independence and layoff story
✨ hosted my first in-person event where 50+ women joined and 19 women were on the waitlist
✨ taught 16 women (and counting) how to confidently invest their first $100 in the stock market — LIVE and in real time
✨ grown Maximized Money into something that feels deeply aligned with the life I’m trying to build

And honestly? Last week, I was questioning whether I really had what it takes to build the dream life and business I’ve been praying for.

That’s the wild part about entrepreneurship.

One week you’re doubting yourself.
The next, you’re realizing your prayers are already unfolding in real time.

Not because everything is perfect.
Not because entrepreneurship is easy.

But because I kept going.

I’m learning that rebuilding your life requires vision, discipline, faith and the willingness to keep showing up even when things feel uncertain.

And while I still have a long way to go, I genuinely believe my best days are ahead of me.

Grateful for every opportunity, every lesson, and every room I’ve been trusted to walk into. 💛

Hi, I’m Joshlyn. I’m a Money Coach (CFEI) who teaches the girls how to invest in the stock market without fear and grow their money with confidence. 💅🏾

One thing about me is that I’m gon repeat an outfit. 💁🏾‍♀️

If I look cute in it, I will rewear it. For different seasons, different locations and different people okay! 😉

Instead of buying outfits for every occasion, I use that money to save, invest, travel and simply enjoy life. 🥂

Let’s normalize shopping in our closets and repurposing outfits before we go buy more ish we really don’t need. 🫣

I’m not a “ new wigs, clothing, or always need my nails done” kinda girlie. I am the “let’s hop on a flight, swim up bar, and collect these beautiful experiences” girlie. My money, outside of bills/investments, are strictly for that 🤑 ✈️ .

Attending an HBCU was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. 🙏🏾

This week is my homecoming and I spent time this morning thanking God for the last 15 years that He has transformed my life. And the amazing relationships I’ve built with women at my alma mater and from other HBCUs.

I have many lives in these last few years. And with each step and each new city, these women have been there. My safe space and confidants. 🥰

One day, I’m going to create a licensed financial literacy curriculum for all 100+ schools. I want our students to leave with the education, knowledge and confidence needs to manage their income efficiently. And avoid all of the debt, bad decisions and horrible spending habits that I did. I can’t wait to come back and see this as my reality.

Comment your HBCU below! Or the one that you wanted to go to, if applicable ❤️🐾🤗

There are 4 first-time home buyer tips and advice that I want you to know. They will help you avoid homeowner mistakes as well.

Most times, homebuyers focus on the design of the home for selfish reasons, but I want to make sure you are thinking logically as well. One of the biggest first-time home buyer mistakes I see is buying a home without an exit strategy. Will you rent after? If so, what kind of renter? Where do they work? Do they have kids? What would be important to them?

In this video, I will show you how to avoid these homebuying mistakes even during a crazy market. My motto is always to buy smart and strategically. Your home, whether it’s your primary residence or not - should be making money for you.

What I Wish I Knew As A First Time Homebuyer 10/21/2022

There's a lot that I wish I knew as a first time homebuyer. I had already failed through the process once but after taking the time to get my finances together and absorb a lot of first time home buyer advice, I re-entered to housing search and succeeded.

However, what I quickly learned, was that there wasn’t enough information out there for first time home buyers. I didn’t know how my credit score was going to impact my buying a house. I didn’t know that I could calculate my debt-to-income ratio on my own. I didn’t even know that there were other first time home buyer programs out there besides NACA.

So if you’re looking to buy a home in 2022, you’re in the right place. In this video, I share 5 things I wish I knew about homebuying before I bought my house. Share with an aspiring first time home buyer you know. I want us all to be better prepared.
