This week, seven of our students in our Health Sciences Academic Career & Technical Pathway are embarking on an exciting hands-on exploration of the healthcare field through our partnership with the Latin American Medical Association of Houston (LAMAH).

Beginning yesterday, our students started a week-long "Camino a la Medicina" program that will take them inside a different medical practice each day, providing valuable exposure to a variety of healthcare specialties. Throughout the week, they will learn directly from physicians and medical professionals in fields including Hematology & Oncology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Endocrinology, and Cardiovascular Medicine.

Experiences like these allow our students to explore potential career paths within the Health Sciences fields, ask questions, and gain firsthand insight into the many opportunities available within the healthcare profession.

We are grateful to LAMAH and the physicians who have opened their offices and will be sharing their time, knowledge, and expertise with our students throughout this whole week. Opportunities like this exemplify our commitment to preparing students for future success through meaningful career exploration and real-world learning experiences.

St. Peter Catholic Career & Technical High School was honored to host the annual Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston Catholic Schools Office Advisory School Council Workshop this past Saturday.

The workshop welcomed Principals and Advisory School Council members from schools throughout the Archdiocese for a day of collaboration, professional development, and shared discussion through a variety of breakout sessions and presentations.

A special thanks to our student and parent volunteers who helped welcome our guests and assisted with event setup, hospitality, and serving food and refreshments in our Gym as attendees arrived. Thank you for helping to create a warm and welcoming environment for all who attended.

Thank you to the Catholic Schools Office for allowing us the opportunity to host this important event. We are grateful to support the mission of Catholic education across our Archdiocese and to showcase the spirit of hospitality that makes St. Peter Catholic such a special community.

Some of our Business Career & Technical Education students spent a day last week participating in a special Summer Enrichment Program led by Mr. Champ Warren of Merrill Lynch, gaining valuable insight into wealth creation, career success, and professional development.

Students learned the power of investing early, including how investing just $100 per month in the S&P 500 over time can potentially grow into significant long-term wealth. They also explored the importance of starting now and how delaying investment decisions can dramatically impact future financial outcomes.

In addition, Mr. Warren shared six key principles for achieving success and creating opportunities throughout their careers, drawing from his 33 years of experience as a top-ranked Private Wealth Advisor. Students also learned professional sales and communication techniques that can help them influence outcomes, stand out and excel during job interviews and possible college admissions.

We are grateful to Mr. Warren for investing his time and expertise in our students and helping prepare the next generation of business leaders with real-world financial and professional skills.

Career exploration doesn’t stop when the school year ends!

Last week, two of our students participated in summer internship and career shadowing experiences, gaining valuable hands-on insight into their future career pathways. One student spent time learning the HVAC trade, while another explored the welding industry, working alongside professionals and seeing firsthand what a career in these high-demand fields looks like.

These real-world experiences help students connect classroom learning to future opportunities, build professional skills, and make informed decisions about their career goals.

We are proud of these students for taking advantage of these opportunities and grateful to our industry partners - All Teams Services (All Team Services) and Jegon Industrial Services for investing in the next generation of skilled professionals.

One of our favorite conversations from this year's Scholarship Lunch came from a discussion with members of the Noto family, whose generosity through the The Gary Noto Golden Opportunity Foundation continues to support the mission of St. Peter Catholic Career & Technical High School.

As we shared the story behind the selection of our Guardian mascot, we reflected on how St. Peter, the first Pope, inspired our school identity. The Guardian draws inspiration from the Swiss Guard, the faithful protectors of the Holy Father and one of the most recognizable symbols of service, loyalty, and dedication in the Catholic Church.

The conversation became even more exciting when we learned that members of the Noto family would soon be traveling to the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica. A plan quickly came together as the conversation progressed – to have a member of the Noto family wear one of our new St. Peter Catholic Guardian t-shirts near the Swiss Guard and send us a photo!

Over the weekend, we received this great photo with our St. Peter Catholic Guardian t-shirt standing alongside the inspiration behind our mascot at the Vatican itself.

Thank you to DiscoverU for coming to campus yesterday afternoon to present to some of our students a number of fantastic learning opportunities for this coming summer.

Recently we had our annual eSports Championship Day through Elite Gaming Live playing against other schools around the country. Congratulations to Rodney who is now a “Five-Peat" Champion for winning first place in the eSports Mario Kart competition, and congrats to Aaron for taking 2nd place. Also, congratulations to Andrew for taking first place in Clash Royale with Jackson taking 2nd place.
