Results for the STAAR exam show that HISD students in grades 3-8 are outpacing the state of Texas and many other urban districts. These results in just one year are outstanding to see and a testament to the hard work of our teachers and students. New data suggests HISD’s NES program may be narrowing the achievement gap between minority and majority students.

It was great to speak with staff and families of students of HISD's Separate and Unique Schools on Wednesday. I shared more about the flexibility and autonomy they can expect at their campuses in the 24-25 school year. Thank you to the staff, teachers, and volunteers who have been working around the clock to get our students back into classrooms as quickly and safely as possible.
Thank you to all the people who have stepped up to help our community recover and get HISD kids back in school.
Throwing it back to my days in the classroom. Our teachers are prepared and excited for great instruction as the first day of school approaches.
Today was an important day in setting a better course for HISD. In meetings with staff, principals, and teachers, what I saw and heard is if we work really hard and focus on our kids, we can move HISD - Together.
