It was a powerful day at The Story Church! All glory to God.

Some of our staff dressed up like “Pastor Eric” today to remind me that I’m about to be another year older. I love how this team at .church takes Jesus seriously without taking ourselves too seriously!

It was an absolute joy to welcome Jac Marino Chen and her husband Josh to the studio in Houston! Jac’s story of surviving years of abuse, occultism/witchcraft, and addiction before Jesus saved her is inspiring and AMAZING! Happy Father’s Day to the best dad I’ve ever known! I love you, Dad, and I thank God for you!

Thanks to the hard work and generosity of so many faithful people, will finally have our own studio and will begin recording new content here later this month! I’m so grateful!!

Awesome news for The Story Church! Welcome to the family, Ashton!

Meet our new Youth Director - Ashton Wascom! 🎉

Ashton will oversee the middle and high school student ministry efforts. He joins us from Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, where he has served as the High School Outreach Director for the past two years. Ashton also worked with Camp Ozark as a staff recruiter and an assistant director in Houston, and has volunteer experience with Ozone Ministries and Young Life.

Although he now calls Houston home, he’s a die hard LSU fan (and a 2020 graduate), “even when they blow it against A&M”. Outside of his ministry, Ashton enjoys spending most of his free time with his friends, and enjoys playing both pickleball and golf. Ashton’s first day on staff will be Monday, November 11, but his first introduction to our students will be at our next Youth Night THIS Sunday at 6:30pm. We hope your students will join us to meet him and help welcome him to The Story!

25 years ago, and I, surrounded by our family, served our first Sunday as pastors in Mooringsport, Louisiana. Tomorrow at will be our 1,300th consecutive Sunday serving the Lord together! We love the Lord and His Church more than ever. I hope I get to see you tomorrow at 3223 Westheimer at 8:30, 9:45, or 11:05.

Oh, my sweet girl. You got your mama’s good looks and my mama’s kindness, your daddy’s sense of humor and your Heavenly Father’s heart. You are the embodiment of joy and grace. You’re everything a daddy could ever hope for in a daughter, and more. And today, you’re 17. You’ve made me smile every day for 6,210 days, Zaira Joelle, and how I sometimes wish I could keep you all to myself. But the whole world needs the joy that you bring, so I suppose I’ll get used to sharing you. Nevertheless, you’ll always be my little girl. Happy birthday, JoJo. You are so loved!
