Scarface’s debut album, Mr. Scarface is Back, was released on October 8th, 1991. It was released under Rap-A-Lot-Records and Priority Records. It went gold on April 23, 1993.

When discussing the genre, it’s hard not to include Houston’s contributions to it.

So many DJs, rappers, legendary figures, and significant locations built this community. It is always important to remember where we started 🤘🏾🎤

Scarface’s third album, The Diary, was released on October 18th, 1994. It was released under Rap-A-Lot and Noo Trybe. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and was certified platinum on December 5, 1994.

Did you know that producer, Mike Dean, met Kanye West through records that he mixed for Scarface’s album The Fix? 🤯

“That’s when Scarface started working with Jay-Z more. That’s where he met Kanye West — that’s where Kanye actually learned about me. He heard “Guess Who’s Back” and was like “who mixed that?” Then he sent his people out to find me. That’s when I started mixing for him.”

Scarface’s seventh album, The Fix, was released on August 6th, 2002 (anniversary coming soon!) 🤘🏾🔥

It was his first release under Def Jam Records; he became President of Def Jam South in 2001. The album debuted at number 4 with over 160,000 copies sold in its first week.
