On Saturday, April 11, the Race Equity Collective will host The Legacy of Liberation, an evening honoring the ongoing work, courage, and collective power of Ukombozi fellows past and present.
This gathering is rooted in the idea of “the shoulders on which we stand.” It is a moment to recognize the lineage of anti-racist leadership within our community and to honor the alumni whose commitment, wisdom, and labor helped build what exists today.

Grounded in the theme “the shoulders on which we stand,” this event is an opportunity to witness and celebrate the courage, growth, and impact of Ukombozi fellows, alumni, and community allies. It is also a moment to reflect on what it takes to sustain anti-racist leadership over time, and to recognize the shared commitment that has carried this work forward for five years.

Whether you’ve partnered with us, supported our programs, or are part of the broader community committed to equity and justice, we hope you’ll join us in honoring both the people and the legacy behind this work.

As we close the year out, we are thankfully for our team, partners and the community we have formed over the years. We are excited for the new year ahead and grateful to be continuing this work!    

We had an awesome time last week at the Youngs Minds Matter Conference hosted by , so many engaging conversations and connections can’t wait until the next!    

Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting our annual Ukombozi Liberation Trip with all three of our ongoing cohorts!

Over the course of the weekend, we visited three historic plantations located along the west bank of the Mississippi River. This experience served as a powerful reminder of our collective history and resilience.

It was an impactful weekend of reflection, learning, and growth and we look forward to continuing to expand our shared commitment to liberation together.

   

Last week we had our Introduction Day, for our Kashmere Gardens Ukombozi Fellowship! We are thrilled to welcome in this new cohort of Anti-racist leaders!!!    

We only have a few more days left to sign-up for the Kashmere Gardens community Ukombozi Fellowship.

This fellowship will span over a few months, growing in both anti-racist leaderhsip an knowledge!
