Walker’s Low Catmint is one of those plants that quietly earns its place in the garden. Soft gray-green foliage forms a flowing mound that stays attractive even through Houston heat, while lavender-blue flowers appear for months and draw a steady parade of bees and butterflies.

Plant it along paths, soften the edge of a bed, or let it weave between roses, salvias, and ornamental grasses. A quick trim after the first flush of blooms often brings an encore performance.

At New Roots, we love plants that create atmosphere as much as color—and few do it as effortlessly as this one.

Some pieces arrive with a purpose already written. Others reveal it later.

This vintage brass candelabra (circa 1920s–1940s) was originally made for candlelight, but today it's holding air plants instead. We love finding new ways for old objects to live alongside growing things.

We believe in surrounding yourself with things you love—plants that grow with you, objects with stories, and rooms that feel like home.

Our plants have loved this rain. Come stroll the nursery and be inspired by all the blooms.

Many of you have been asking for Vitex trees and Redbuds trees, they are available now and are gorgeous ☺️.

A lantern for hummingbirds. Not every flower opens wide to make an impression.

Turk's Cap keeps its petals folded like a tiny scarlet lantern, blooming through Houston's heat when many plants are ready for a break. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and native pollinators know exactly where to find it.

A favorite Texas native for part sun to bright shade, Turk's Cap brings months of color, wildlife activity, and easy-going beauty to the garden.

We believe in surrounding yourself with things you love—plants that grow with you, stories that unfold season after season.

🌺 Blooming now at New Roots.

Coreopsis is one of those plants that quietly earns its place in the garden. Long blooming, pollinator friendly, and full of cheerful color, it’s the kind of perennial that keeps giving all season long.

It pairs beautifully in native gardens, cottage gardens or in containers like the image in post.

We have a beautiful selection in stock right now🧑‍🌾.

Some plants tell their story through form and time.

The Baseball Jatropha carries years within its sculptural trunk. A reminder that beauty comes in many forms 🩷

As we are growing and creating our gardens, we find that sometimes the unexpected really works.

Incorporating globed evergreens like these Dwarf Yaupon Holly shrubs adds a wonderful contrast to the ornamental grasses and blooming salvias (mystic spires salvia and shooting star lily).

It’s so easy to prune a regular holly into a globe, as I did here (saves money too!). Just start shaping by cutting from the top and then curving around the edges. I use sheep shears for mine, but any flat pruners will work. The more you trim the tighter the globe will be as it grows.

If you’d like to try this idea, stop by our nursery today and pick up some Dwarf Yaupon Holly evergreen shrubs (we would opt out of boxwoods as they tend to get diseases). Plant them where they will create a contrast amongst your flowering color or grasses and enjoy.
