A refreshed space that feels a little more grounded, a little more natural, and a lot more “why didn’t we do this sooner?”

Providence Development is honored to receive a Global Design Award from Marriott International for the SpringHill Suites in Sandpoint, Idaho.

This recognition reflects the vision, creativity, and dedication of an exceptional team. We extend our sincere gratitude to Marriott International, Hospitality, The Richardson Design Partnership, Studio a28, Dick Anderson Construction, and the many team members, consultants, and partners whose hard work brought this project to life.

The SpringHill Suites Sandpoint was designed to complement the natural beauty and character of the community while delivering an exceptional guest experience. We are proud of what this team accomplished together and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of Sandpoint and North Idaho hospitality.

🐻✨SURPRISE // Some of our favorite surprises on this project were waiting for us outside the building!

First, we were completely honored to discover a custom name plaque featuring STUDIO a28. The owners were kind enough to make us a permanent part of the building, and seeing our name there forever is something we’ll never forget. 🏨

And then there’s Reggie the Bear! 🐻 Bronze Reggie celebrates a real local bear who became an unexpected jobsite celebrity during construction. Early in the project, she would quietly wander into the building, make herself comfortable in the model room, and spend the night sleeping on the bed—without disturbing a single thing. Needless to say, she left quite an impression on the owner and contractor!

From thoughtful tributes to unforgettable stories, it’s details like these that make a project truly special. ✨

⚙️ GROUNDED // Inspired by Wichita’s deep roots in aerospace and the quiet strength of the Flint Hills, this concept blends industrial precision with natural character.
Raw materials, exposed details, and intentional craftsmanship tell a story of how things are made. Visible seams, connections, and layered textures bring an honest, unfussy feel. Celebrating structure instead of hiding it.

Prairie inspired tones, weathered metals, and rich, textured finishes soften the edge, while subtle charred accents nod to the Flint Hills’ cycle of renewal🌾. Long lines and open compositions draw from the surrounding landscape, creating a space that feels calm, confident, and deeply connected to place!

💡 ILLUMINATED // Award-winning hotel design doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s shaped by every hand, trade, and partnership that brings the vision to life. From custom millwork, lighting integration, and wallcovering murals to furnishings, and final styling, this space came together through the collaboration of so many talented vendors and craftspeople. The end result is layered, intentional, and full of details that only happen when everyone is aligned toward the same vision🥾⛰️

ENERGY // For our Hawaii project, we teamed up with JVA Art Group to dream up these custom wallcoverings, and they’re show-stopping!! Inspired by the landscape, culture, and color of the islands, every detail taps into the bigger design story while still feeling fresh and fun. It’s layered, a little unexpected, and rooted in place. Bringing depth and personality into the space in a way that feels energetic, yet intentional☀️
