The Price of Leadership.
The higher the level of leadership, the greater the sacrifice. No matter what kind of leadership it is, the higher you go, the more it will cost you. You will have to give up. You will have to let go, if you truly want to rise.
When I had my restaurant in Los Angeles, California, someone came up to me and said: “I want to do what you do.”
Without thinking, I replied: “Would you be willing to do what I did to get here?”
There was no way he could know the summers, the falls and the winters I spent sleeping in my car, looking for safe parking spots to sleep, showering at the gyms, knocking on doors and building businesses with no money.
Being alone at Christmas. Working every single day, no matter if it was a holiday or my birthday, whether I felt good or bad, and wearing the same clothes.

My Journey.
Today I want to share the pain of reevaluating priorities through personal experience.
I used to live in Los Angeles, California - one of my favorite places…The city is beautiful, with one of the best climates in the world. It was also where I met someone loved deeply.
In 20 minutes you can be at the beach and in a few hours you can be in the mountains.
It has culture, sports teams, amazing restaurants, and you can play golf year-round.
Why would I want to move?
I expected to live there the rest of my life. It was so comfortable.
But leadership isn’t about comfort, it’s about progress.
I’ve spent almost 17 years building businesses from scratch... I went through a 12-year marriage and a difficult divorce.
On that journey, I climbed my own mountain. There were hard days, losses, and battles that no one saw.
I learned that leadership isn’t about staying where you are. It’s about moving to where you can grow and taking others with you.
Today I’m in Houston, Texas, because I learned and understood that to progress you have to let go of what’s comfortable and walk toward what truly matters.
I call this The Law of Sacrifice.
