Proper phase rotation and operation of an UPS system is critical to maintaining up time.

The pictures below shows what happens when you parallel a inverter that is running in normal to utility power without going to static switch first.

The same issue can occur when the bypass phase rotation is incorrect. In both cases your are paralleling line sources that are not in sync and damage occurs.

Training and experience can resolve the operation issues.

Proper start up and preventive maintenance that verifies all sources and wiring can prevent the phase rotation issue.
