A Harris County judge maintained a $500,000 bond today for Jazmin Cisneros, the mother accused alongside her boyfriend in connection with the tragic death of 2-year-old Janessa Martinez.
Court documents reveal allegations of prior unreported abuse, while the defense claims threats were made against the mother. With the toddler's passing confirmed Thursday, prosecutors are now evaluating whether to upgrade charges.

UPDATE: A Harris County judge found probable cause to charge 29-year-old Gerardo Gonzalez with a felony charge of Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury after a 2-year-old girl was left in critical condition.
According to court documents, the child's mother, 28-year-old Jazmin Cisneros, admitted her boyfriend told her he struck the toddler in the head multiple times. Cisneros allegedly stated she did not report the abuse right away out of fear Gonzalez would go to jail.
Doctors interviewed in the case say in court documents that the 2-year-old is not expected to survive her injuries.
Both Gonzalez and Cisneros are currently behind bars at the Harris County Jail.
Gonzalez's bond is set at $1 million.
Officials note that charges could be upgraded to murder if the toddler passes away.

Harris County Commissioners have unanimously approved $2.52 million in separate funding over three years to aid the District Attorney’s Office in its investigation into the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo by an ICE officer.
HCDA Sean Teare noted the funds will go toward specialized personnel and new evidence tech, as local authorities continue gathering evidence.
Teare also shared that while local FBI Houston is assisting, DHS federally is currently not cooperating.

Mr. Rojas has been released from immigration detention following a successful habeas corpus petition that reached a federal judge in Texas.
Associate Attorney Gabriela Rivero called habeas petitions the primary recourse for individuals facing detention after entering the country without inspection. She highlighted that constitutional Fifth Amendment protections apply to everyone, regardless of citizenship or immigration status.
Mr. Rojas has since been reunited with his family. Attorney Hugo Balderas is said to be scheduling a press conference tomorrow to provide further details on Rojas's ongoing case.

A Houston family is demanding answers after 34-year-old Nhan Le was left brain-dead following an alleged attack last Friday.
Harris County Court records reveal the suspect, 28-year-old Joshua McDaniel, went on a violent 24-hour spree—attacking four different people in the same area near State Highway 249. Records reveal McDaniel has over 15 prior criminal charges dating back to 2015.
Le, is currently on life support at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest but family is unsure for how much longer.
His family is now speaking out against the Harris County Court system, asking why a repeat offender was allowed back on the street.

Currently there is an active investigation by the Houston Police Department.
Authorities are working to determine the identity and the cause of death.
