π NEW PROJECT π
I mentioned this project in my last post, and itβs definitely one the world needs to see!
Inspired by my clientβs time in Morocco, we transformed this plain jane kitchen into a true show stopper. I love it so much. More photos to come for sure!
(And in case you missed it, check out my last post (itβs pinned in Instagram) for big news!)

Six years ago, I took the risk and did it scared. I crafted the life I wanted to live through hard work, determination, and giant leaps of faith. And now it's time to move on.
I am closing Oak Story Design and this chapter of my life for the foreseeable future. It's been a joy and an honor to do this work. Thank you to everyone who invited me into their homes and their lives. It's been so good!
And it takes courage to leave behind a good season intentionally. A lot of thought has gone into this, and to live my best story, I know it's the right move.
I'm not really sure what's next but I'm trusting myself and I know that good things are ahead.
You can read more about my decision on my blog: www.oakstorydesign.com/blog (Link in bio)
I'm also not sure what this page, other social media pages, and my website will look like in the future. For now, I'm leaving them up for inspiration. I do have at least one more project I'd like to show you all, so there will likely be posts about that. Otherwise, I'll just see how it all goes!
Live your best story, friends. It's worth it.

One of our favorite ways to clear those countertops of clutter is to hide your cooking utensils away in a drawer like this! ββββββββ

Want to know something funny? We can't actually use this fireplace yet and we've lived in the for a year and half. We're still missing a part that allows us to use it. π€¦π½ββοΈ ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Help me out and tag Kurt Kopczynski below or just drop a comment to pressure him to get the part before Texas' (short and usually mild) winter begins! I can't let this beautiful fireplace go to waste. ββββββββ

An epic βοΈ BEFORE & AFTER βοΈ from a few years ago. ββββββββββββββββββOne of the most beloved features we've ever highlighted on here is this little bookshelf nook between the fridge and the wall. You guys love this! As does our client ;)
This was one of those necessary things that we asked ourselves, "How can we make this work for us?" We needed to move the refrigerator away from the wall so it could fully open but that left us with kind of a weird little space that felt slightly too cramped for an actual cabinet.
I think the bookshelf idea was 100% the right idea. What do you think?

I don't think I've ever shown the shower in our . By using longer subway tile in a herringbone pattern, this shower is simple and classic, yet interesting. ββββββββ

Is mixing metals ok? I get asked this question all the time. ββββββββ
ββββββββ
And the answer is yes, 100%. ββββββββ
ββββββββ
In a way, it gives it a timeless look; you can't date the design based on all the brass, or all the satin nickel, or all the....ββββββββ
ββββββββ
It also adds interest which I'm always pushing for. No one wants boring. ββββββββ
ββββββββ
I would say, keep it to two different metals, to be safe, and make sure those coordinate pretty well. Like here, the mirror and the k***s are both gold AND a similar finish of gold. Same with the silver, both the faucet and the light are polished nickel. ββββββββ
ββββββββ
It's also good to repeat the finish at least once. So, if you have a silver faucet, use silver in at least one other place in your bathroom. Make sense? ββββββββ
