W Land Works is a Houston area landscape design firm founded by Jonathan Williams that provides functional low maintenance landscapes.

By selecting beautiful, low maintenance plants and utilizing strong designs we can reduce or avoid the weekly invasion and cost of landscaping crews. Our designs showcase climate specific plants and use hardscape elements to fulfill our client’s vision as well as staying true to our design aesthetic. The designs we create allow for a landscape to have a purpose. This purpose is fulfilled as our client's share and enjoy their landscapes everyday.

Timeless design often begins with simplicity.

For this project, our goal was to create a landscape that feels quietly elegant — defined by clean lines, thoughtful modern touches for entertaining, and a design that will feel just as relevant years from now as it does today.

Elevation changes guide movement through the space, while genuine materials ground the design with texture and permanence. Carefully framed sight lines create moments of pause, and layered plantings introduce contrast and softness against the architecture. 🌿

This Aspen residence sits somewhere between wild and intentional. From the start, I didn’t want it to feel overly composed or controlled. The goal was to let the landscape breathe!

Planting leans into that balance. There’s a softness to it, a sense that it could keep evolving over time, but it’s grounded by a clear framework that keeps it legible and easy to move through. Spaces open up where they need to, and paths lead you to where they want you to go but never forced.

What I love most is how it feels as you move through it. You’re never entirely sure where the landscape stops, and the mountain begins.

When you don't have a pool...you just have to create one.
