Not all CGI (Compacted Graphite Iron) materials deliver the superior performance often marketed. CGI comes in different grades, and its properties can vary significantly.
Recently, we came across a marketing ad promoting a CGI cylinder head, but upon closer examination, its material grade was nearly identical to regular grey iron—offering no real advantage in strength or durability.
For marketing, fancy terms and visuals can make a product appear high-quality, but at the end of the day, transparency matters. The bottom line is telling the truth to the client and delivering what is truly promised.

RuT450 vs. Grey Iron: A Comparison
RuT450 (Compacted Graphite Iron, CGI) and Grey Iron (HT350) are two commonly used materials in engine components, particularly cylinder heads. While grey iron has been the industry standard for years, RuT450 offers significant advantages in strength, durability, and thermal performance.

Strength & Durability: RuT450 has 75% higher tensile strength than grey iron (450-550 MPa vs. 300-350 MPa), making it more resistant to cracking and wear.
