As a birthday present to myself Im dropping my art toy series today! I’ve been working on this for months/decades trying to navigate a creative career but no avail. Many windows of opportunity gatekept and shut in front of me, a familiar story to other black creators. Especially in the cosplay scene, lives lost whose only crime was being black. I aim to carve my own window of opportunity and create a space of black joy/success for myself and others. Thats been my driving force behind creating this series, Jellyfish Odyssey. An all black q***r fantasy toy figurine series, exploring the different ways to be whimsically/beautifully black in the fantasy space.
