Braid, shampoo, retie, trim, drink water, BRAID, think about a style, BRAID, shampoo…

Almost 5 years loc’d and I wouldn’t have it any other way….it’s nice to look at others but looking back on my own hair journey, mannn it’s crazy bc this is the longest my hair has ever gotten all the way round 🥹

Usual comments I get: “Who does your hair?” “Do you have extensions?” “How long did it take to grow that long?” “When are you gonna start styling them?” “Aren’t you ready to mix it up and do some boho or something?” “I thought your hair would be longer by now” “My hair is longer than yours and I’m only a year in”

I love the conversation surrounding Black womens’ hair but I wish we would think a little more about the person on the other side of that question 😮‍💨

Stop the comparing, the shaming and just…enjoy the journey (I know you tired of that word)

I hope the next time you see someone rocking their natural hair with pride, you pour into them. Don’t drain them….we get enough of that from those who may not look like us or know what it’s like to have this hair

If you’re debating on whether you love your hair or not, do the work to get there. It’s your hair & if you love it, that’s more than enough
