BREAKING: Kauai Police are in the process of apprehending Hanalei homicide suspect William “Billy” Sinclair in the water outside of the Kapaa Public Library.

The library is along Kuhio Hwy and is right along the ocean next to Kapaa Beach Park. Police are asking residents to avoid the area.

Hawaii Governor tells me he’s considering pausing the state and county gas taxes for a period of time this summer as the war in Iran has sent gas prices about $1.15 per gallon higher in the islands.

Hawaii has some of the lowest state gas taxes in the nation at $0.18 per gallon, but the counties also levy taxes which put drivers about even with the national average of $0.33 per gallon.

Honolulu’s tax is $0.16, Maui is $0.24, Hawaii Island is $0.23, and Kauai is $0.17.

The economic outlook for Hawaii is darkening as oil prices and other costs surge from the war in Iran.

That’s according to a new report this morning from the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization. Major takeaways from the may report include a sharp decline in visitors, increased travel expenses and consumer costs, and a soft housing market. Impacts continue to be felt from the Kona Low storms. Joey Cadiz doesn’t take a break from rescuing people in need, even when it’s 3:30 am.

In the middle of the night on March 20th, Cadiz woke up to text messages and the sounds of catastrophic flooding. The Honolulu Ocean Safety life guard was one of those who went above and beyond the call of duty, driving from Mililani to Oahu’s North Shore, taking his board into dangerous conditions and coordinating with other heroes with tractors to save countless lives.
