Heard that all noodles were plant-based and they had vegan menu options. Was not disappointed!

Great choice if you are looking for plant-based options on the windward side. You can also buy their pre-packaged noodles made with locally sourced staples to take and make at home:
🍈Ulu / Breadfruit
🌿Kalamungai / Moringa
💜Kalo / Taro
🥑‘Apala / Avocado
💜Ube / Okinawan Sweet Potato
🍜 Hawaiian Saimin

Tried the ‘Ulu Garlic noodles with portabello mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 Portion sizes are HUGE and it ended up being 3 meals.

“The smell of money”—that’s what Big Pork calls the stench of pig waste in the air in eastern North Carolina, where much of the world’s bacon and barbecue is made. But to Elsie Herring and others who live near the state’s giant pig factories, the revolting odor is a call to battle against generations of injustice. 🐖

When a corporate hog farm moves in––uninvited––on land her grandfather had purchased after claiming his freedom from slavery, Elsie Herring decides to fight back. But as her rural community becomes the epicenter of the pork industry’s explosion in America, Elsie’s struggle to save her family’s home and heritage turns into a battle against one of the world’s most powerful companies and its deadly pollution. ☣️

After decades of intimidation and defeat, Elsie and her community team up with a gutsy small-town lawyer to take the world’s largest pork company to court. An epic, nine-year legal battle ensues, and the residents risk everything to reclaim their rights to clean air, pure water, and a life free from the stench of s**t. 💩

A story about the power of love for one’s family and community to triumph over even the largest forces of injustice, The Smell of Money calls upon viewers to see the people behind what's on our plates––and to join the fight for a better future for us all. ✊🏽

EAT LESS MEAT 🥩 via

There are sooo many reasons why being vegan or vegetarian may not be right for you, and that’s cool, but can you try to eat *less* meat? It actually makes a difference.

Researchers calculated that if 20% of the world’s per-capita beef consumption is replaced with a meat substitute, we could reduce methane emissions by 11% and deforestation and associated emissions by 50% by 2050. If we swap out 50% of the beef, that would equal more than 80% reduction in deforestation and carbon emissions, and replacing 80% of beef would eliminate about 90% of forest loss.

Veganism is often accused of being anti-Indigenous, but in reality it is a response to the anti-indigenous systems of today.

Veganism offers an opportunity to disrupt colonial logic by challenging the most basic blocks of colonialism, which reduce all life forms to mere objects for capitalist exploitation.

This award-winning film is not yet released to the public, so this is an exclusive opportunity for the O‘ahu community to watch this film and enjoy free plant-based food samples.

A century after her grandfather claimed his freedom from slavery and the family land, Elsie Herring and her North Carolina community fight the world’s largest pork corporation for their freedom to enjoy fresh air, clean water, and a life without the stench of manure.
