John obliterated the one-lap speed record of our parking lot before sprinting down Morris when he test rode a Trek Domane AL 4, 61cm in Hex Blue to Marianas Blue Fade; to paraphrase an old cereal commercial, I think he liked it. He’s taking it home to NW Indiana where he has Chicagoland’s best-connected regional bike network out his front door. We’re envious of your new bike AND your bike paths, John! Catch you on the E-L sometime…or rather, you’ll catch us. And thanks for being our customer!

Rachel’s new Electra Townie 7D EQ in Kiwi Green, Trek Solstice MIPS helmet in Pink Frosting: she’s got the look (and now you have an ear worm, you’re welcome). We should sell them together as a happiness package. Looking forward to you brightening up a Choo-Choo Ride, Rachel, or maybe this Friday’s Ho-Flo Pride Ride? And thank you for being our customer!

Regular attendance on our Saturday morning Off-Leash Ride, which includes a loop of Homewood’s beautiful Homewood Izaak Walton Preserve and its gravel and dirt trails, convinced Tim that he wanted more unpaved routes in his life than his Fuji road bike could enjoyably accommodate. Fate intervened: we had one more Trek Checkpoint AL 3 Gen 2 on closeout, providentially in Tim’s size. With 40mm gravel tires (and room to go even cushier), the Checkpoint lives for the path less traveled, and is fast and comfy on pavement, too. We have even more capable Checkpoint ALR 3 Gen 3s in stock and (checks inventory…) a Checkpoint ALR 4 Gen 2 on closeout—maybe it’s destined for you? And thanks, Tim, for riding with us and being our customer!
When you look behind you on the Off-Leash Ride and realize you’re these kids’ father now 🤣. Ride with us this morning—kids to the front! 8:30am start at the shop. More ride deets in the bio links.

We spent Wednesday evening building a batch of new Fairdale and Sunday bikes—for kids both in body and at heart—and the Fairdale Macaroni 20” didn’t make it past Thursday morning. AJ’s parents fell in love with it on sight, and surprised AJ with it after kindergarten graduation yesterday afternoon. A tiger unicorn? In space? And that green? Plus Fairdale’s rep is built on mad respect from bike park shredders both small and large. Congrats on moving on to the first grade in style, AJ! And moms & dads can be rad too: check out that last teaser photo for a Fairdale Taj in Trans Winter Blue.

Paige loved her Electra Vale Go! E-bike, right up to the day it was stolen outside of work in Chicago. A discontinued model, she despaired of ever seeing its like again. But early this spring, we snapped up a handful of the Bosch-powered beauties from Trek on closeout, and Paige was surprised & delighted when they popped up as available in her web search. At $1500 off, they’ve flown out of the store, and Paige has bought the second-to-last one. See for yourself why the Vale Go! is worth searching for at our E-bike Demo Day June 6…assuming someone like Paige doesn’t find it first.

Maureen had a color in mind for her venerable Fuji Touring bike: Utah’s Bryce Canyon. Coating Specialties down in da Heights had the color chip: Illusion Dorado. GoodSpeed played matchmaker, prepping the Fuji for powder coating and performing a full overhaul with some fresh touches: new hoops built with DT Swiss R460 rims, SimWorks stainless brake cables in Turmeric, Ergon Gravel bar tape in Swamp Green, and that PDW Rattlesnek Kej. What’s on Maureen’s mind now? Adventure! You go on ahead, Maureen—we’ll catch up at the campsite!

Who got a new bike just in time for the first Choo-Choo Ride! of 2026 this Tuesday? Camille, that’s who. She’s ready to rock her new Trek Wahoo Trail 20 on the south suburbs’ only weekly community ride, leaving GoodSpeed’s parking lot every Tuesday evening through Labor Day, 6:30pm. No donuts post-ride, Camille; you’ll have to make do with a Dilly Bar or Kona Ice. 😉 See you tomorrow night!
