Mayor Mary Nesby invites local business owners and community leaders to a Community Safety Meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Homestead Borough Building, 2nd Floor Council Chambers.

We were just notified that a sinkhole opened up on 9th Avenue near Capri Pizza. We unfortunately need to shut down that block of 9th for all traffic while we investigate and schedule the repair.

HPD and Public Works are already on site. If they ask you to move your vehicles, please move them for your own safety and to allow us the space to inspect and repair it.

Like many of you, I woke up this morning thinking about the families affected by last night’s fire on W. 14th. I know many of us are concerned for their neighbors and our community.

Homestead Borough staff and elected officials want to thank all of our colleagues - the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, and our friends in neighboring departments who responded so quickly and worked through the night to protect lives and surrounding homes. Their work made a difference.

Today, the Borough is working to assess the affected properties and help determine the next steps.

Please keep the affected families, residents, and first responders in your thoughts today.

Today our community was truly blessed by the incredible work of at Corey Playground in Homestead! What an amazing day filled with love, laughter, and generosity for our children and families. From the wonderful gifts, TV giveaways, and acts of kindness, to simply pouring back into the community, your impact did not go unnoticed.

Seeing smiles on the faces of the children reminded us all that when organizations come together with a heart to serve, real change happens. Thank you for investing in our youth, uplifting families, and making a positive difference right here in our community. Your generosity, compassion, and commitment are truly appreciated.

PennDOT just alerted us of some planned roadwork on 8th Avenue/ Route 837 beginning tomorrow. Their contractor will be performing manual patching from 7pm to 5am on May 1st and May 2nd. During that period, traffic will be limited to one lane of travel in the areas where they are working, so you might see some delays.

They're hitting the between our bridge and River Road. They did not share which end of that stretch is their starting point, so I can't guess when they'll be actively working in Homestead.
