Meet another of our outstanding scholarship applicants: Josiah Gordon of Homer.

"These games have taught me that I am more capable and stronger than I thought I was," Josiah wrote in his application. "These games have also given me an extended 'family' of lifelong friends."

He added, "The most valuable part of these games is that they teach community over self." As an athlete who competes in Western sports like football and track, as well, Josiah was surprised to find friendships and encouragement from competing athletes and other coaches at NYO Games. "Having that support changed the way I approached my other sports."

If awarded an NYO scholarship, Josiah plans to use it in support of his eventual goal to run his own heavy/diesel shop. He plans to attend AVTEC.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, not a creature will be stirring in our Anchorage offices—not even a mouse! Before we hop on our sleighs and depart, we’d like to take a moment to extend warm holiday wishes to our employees, shareholders, business partners, clients, community members, and to all of your families—may your holiday season be happy and bright, and Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
